I appreciate some of your comments. In the situation you gave i.e your partner leaving you then yes I can agree that the £100 is just put down to experience etc and move on. I would have done the same.
BUT this is completely different. Royal Mail can not be treated the same as an ex partner! I paid for a service when my passport was up for renewal (the check and send service which by all accounts is advertised as more secure) and they lost my passport. If they offered to reimburse my costs then I would have been happy but they did not.
If I need to get legal action to seek these costs then I will. The thing is I have a letter from the manager at the Post Office where this happened and he accepted liability and stated that ALL my costs should be reimbursed. Where would I stand if I took out a claim against them?

How do you calculate the losses at £135?0
-
I had to pay extra to get a same day passport. (it is only the uplift in cost that I am including). Travel costs to the passport office. I also registered with a credit reference agency to ensure that I was not the victim of ID fraud.
I have not included postage costs etc.
Like I said before if they offered to reimburse my costs I would have let this go.0 -
Who lost your passport
The post office where you did your check and send
or
Royal Mail by whom your pasport would have been sent from the PO (it goes Special delivery, so would have been covered by loss, surely)
Or
the passport office?0 -
The manager at the PO is not sure where the loss occurred. He did say though that they werent sent Special Delivery although they are now.If I can prove that the PO were negligent is this worth pursuing? I do not think I can get any further with Royal Mail.0

The only thing you can do is to take RM to the country court.0
