Hello, I've recently made the switch to a MacbookAir. Ive just upgraded to Maverick OS. I also have an iPad Mini and iPhone 5, on which I have installed the Pages, Keynote and Numbers apps.
I understand that all MacBooks have these apps installed - but I can't find them anywhere. If I look on the app store they are there to purchase - but I thought they were free.
Have I misunderstood or is there something I'm overlooking?
Many thanks

They are only free if the device was bought since October 22nd, see:Apple announcement0

You can get them for free.
You need to install a free trial of iWork '09. This is available from a number of sites. One is here:
http://iwork.en.softonic.com/mac
When the trial is installed, launch one of the apps and you should be invited to upgrade to the current version free of charge. If not, revisit the app store and check for updates available for your computer.

Hmmm unfortunately I tried the above and got:
“iWork09Trial.mpkg” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.

You need to control click or right click the icon and then select open. You will be given the option to override the Mac gatekeeper and install the apps. It's the same for any app not downloaded from the app store.
Let us know how you get on.0 -
