    warped brake discs

    A myth........

Probably took off because of outfits like CrapFit using it to sell people stuff they don't need.

Check the tyres are fitted properly. Try fitting the spare.

You really need this checked out now. Buckled wheels or discs, or damaged tyres would be a permanent knocking action in the steering/suspension system at all speeds. Anything that is loose that "spins up" so you don't notice it so much is likely to be a severely worn joint.

It could also be something as simple as a worn wishbone/track control arm bush.
Nowhere near life threatening, but something that you may want to get done by the time the next MOT is due.
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it
