No electricity or gas bills for 9 months as I apparently do not have a meter!?
Hi all, I was hoping for some advice. I have been in a new build rented flat for 9 months. Upon arrive I called my energy provider and in formed them of the readings. Despite several phone calls I still do not have a bill.
The latest bit or correspondence states that after a site visit I have no meter so they can not provide me with a bill!
I feel I have done enough to resolve the situation but is that the right thing to do?

I dont think you ve done enough, you do have a meter and you know you have, just get back to customer services and have the serial number of the meter ready. This is a mess up with the builder not informing the supplier the correct details of your meter. . There are always mess ups with building contractors. Its not the suppliers fault so there will be no back billing rule to apply. They only have to get a reading once every 2 years , you have to provide 2 a year usually. Sitting back and doing nothing from now on is nt an option.Hi all, I was hoping for some advice. I have been in a new build rented flat for 9 months. As Macman said , do a usage check to verify its your meter you are using. Builders always mess up something, plot numbers, serial numbers. The suppliers not at fault. The meter reader would be looking for a particular serial number, if he did nt find it he may report back something stupid , like " meter not found ". I have been to places where the builder has logged the same serial number for every flat, so we have no chance of locating meters0 -
Check that the Elec supplier you think is yours, actually is
There are national data bases that record which supplier supplies any given meter, which are based on the region in which you live - Google "Who supplies my Electricity" to get the phone number for your region
It's important you keep a log of all Phone Calls/Emails etc. you have made and will make in attempting to track your supplier0 -
I know others in this situation my advice is to leave it BUT... put away at least the national average around £125 per month for when the bill does drop on your door step.
