Lamb in plastic bag has swollen up!

Hi,

I bought a piece of lamb from Aldi last Sat, expiry date is 17/02, I have it on the fridge but I have noticed the bag has inflated and has lots of air inside.. does it mean the meat has gone bad??

I don't have the receipt anymore but it's clear is from Aldi, will I be able to return it if it's bad..?

Thanks!

I'd just take it back, vacuum sealed meat can have an odd smell for first few seconds. If you open it first, Aldi might say that you had opened it and didn't use it, at least unopened you can 'prove' it's not how you've treated it xxx
  • Take it back. It's not worth a bad belly thinking or hoping it might be ok.

    I would take it back.

This usually is a sign that it is off/going off.

Thanks to all, I will take it back on Saturday. If it was vacuum sealed it's not anymore!

It's not necessarily air getting in the bag. It could be gasses given off by the meat if it's gone off.

No, nothing has got into the bag, it's perfectly sealed.. the air has come from the meat itself.. that's what make me thought it's off but I'm not sure and I don't want to open it as I can't take it back till Saturday...

I can't wait to hear what excuses they come up with for it either being perfectly OK or all your fault.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)
