Dead plant?

I’m not sure whether this is likely to ever be saved(probably not but i’ll ask anyway!)

I have a rubber plant (That i’ve had for YEARS – been repottedalong the way)

Anyway, bought it into the office a few months ago for acolleague, and he has just bought it to me in THIS state:

Now, There ARE new shoots (only a very few mind) and thestems are still solid (No root rot) – He first had it with no natural light sohe moved it, but he has over watered it.

Is it even worth me repotting or just try and get a cuttingfrom it?

Thanks!

Why don't you try spraying the branches with water to see if any new shoots appear. If nothing happens I would just cut it back to the few shoots that are there already. It isn't dead yet so it is worth a try.

There's definitely life in the old rubber plant yet ;-) Can you take a cutting and also try repotting it?
  • thanks for replying!

I’vere-potted it this morning and I’m going to try and spray the braches – Unfortunatelythe last time I took a cutting it failed on me (never took a cutting before soi probably did it wrong!) I’m not 100% sure how to cut it back as I’ve neverhad to before so will look into this.

    Glad it’snot completely dead!

Looking at the picture there isn't any material on the plant for you to take a cutting. So I would first wait and see if any new shoots appear and then cut back the branches just above the new shoots. Let's be optimistic and say it will be obvious once new shoots appear where to prune the branches
