Insurance claim for malicious damage

The other night some overhead cable was stolen from the road outside our house, about a miles worth. This resulted in a power surge which has "fried" some of the electronics in some electrical equipment in our house. Our insurers, Lloyds TSB, have said our policy does not cover this as we don't have Accidental Damage cover. I maintain that this was the result of malicious damage and as such is covered under the policy.
Any advice please.

Accidental damage to me means tipping a can of paint over and spilling it over the telly etc not something like this completely out of your control.
Get the energy company to confirm what you believe happened and raise a formal complaint with the insurer.0
