Electoral Roll Info

Hi All,

I am recently divorced trying to get my life back on track. I have been given a mortgage decision in principle for a small home for me and my girls. I am worried that moving around etc would have negatively impacted on my credit rating so I have been on Equifax (the company my lender uses) to check things out.

My credit score actually comes up as good (422). I have all greens apart from an amber on credit agreements (where I apparently paid something late back in 2010) and lots of 'settled' or 'up to date' green icons.

My problem is the nasty red electoral roll symbol. It has information for my previous addresses but not for my current one. I know I'm registered here and have had it verified (for a fee) by Leeds City Council. I have given this information to Equifax and they say they cannot amend my file until Aptil when England's Councils have updated their (delayed) records.

I have added a notice of correction to my file, but i just feel that this is so unfair and hope it won't negatively affect my chances of getting a mortgage as I imagine stability is one of the key risk factors.

Anyone else had this happen to them or can anyone give me any words of advice/comfort/wisdom to get me through until my mortgage meeting on Monday?! I am stressing about this.

Many thanks,

Phil

I had a similar thing happen to me, or so I thought. I was informed that two agencies had been used, Equifax and call credit.
I spoke to the electoral roll people (Wirral) and they told me the information will be uploaded on Feb 17.

However the real problem was with a gas bill at a house we rented for three months between permanent homes. The owner/BG messed up. This showed on the call credit file but not Equifax.

Its worth joining as its free and no sign up and cancel nonsense like Equifax.
  • Thanks so much and sorry to hear about your problems. The reason I'm using Equifax is that I was told by the mortgage person I'm seeing on Monday that this is the company they use.
