Please forgive me all as this is my first posting.
My neighbour who has three disabled children and is herself disabled has had issues with her small laptop, her screen broke so I purchased a new one and fitted it with no issues then only two weeks later it stopped charging and nor the battery is fully dead although when pressing power on it lights up the button but nothing else.
I have purchased a brand new charger to no avail and wondered how best to resolve any issues it could be. I plan not charging my neighbour for my help even though I am spending on the parts because she helps our son who goes to activities with her children so we share driving them and supervising allowing each a break, yet wish to keep costs down for obvious reasons. Is it possible to bypass the socket you plug the charger into the laptop as it seems loose and maybe if is not catching charger as is normal it is not making a clean contact. She has said should I need to solder wires to connection points inside she would not mind yet I was hoping someone may give a flash of inspiration to solve the issues once and for all.
The laptop is a asus Eeee 1001 or 101
Thank you in advance.

A common fault is the power connector on the board in the laptop.
