Huawei MiFi router problem

Hi all,
I bought a new unlocked Huawei E5220 router from eBay a couple of weeks ago. It worked perfectly for a few days, but the next time I turned it on all the status lights stayed on, instead of turning off after a few seconds like they should do. The WiFi network doesn't show up from my computer, and the router won't even turn off.
I've already tried all the normal problem-solving things like pressing the internal reset button, removing and replacing the battery and the SIM, trying another SIM from a different mobile phone network, and removing the battery for two hours as suggested in the manual. Nothing makes a difference, it appears to be completely dead.
Before I send the router back to the eBay seller, does anyone have any suggestions on how to revive it? I bought this router because my previous model Huawei router had a similar problem, but the previous one lasted for 18 months.
Thanks.

My suggestion is to buy one for less and to unlock it yourself. Why you would spend £20 more to buy it unlocked is beyond me.0
