Search engine adding %20 to my searches

hi please help if you can. I was trying to remove bing as a search engine. I was in the control panel and attempted to disable bing and think I achieved this as it is no longer there. However whenever I open a new tab (in internet explorer) if I type in a single word and click return that's fine and the website appears. however if I put in a multi-word search the spaces between the words are replaced by %20. I have tried to google this but it only seems to be relating to people who are trying to set up complicated search options rather than something that has happened to them accidentally. Sorry for the ramblings and hope I make sense - has anyone any ideas of what I've done please and how to "undo" it. many thanks

%20 is just code for a spaceChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0

Because you removed the search IE is seeing anything you type as a url. Browsers cannot deal with urls with spaces so it converts them into ASCII characters it can deal with, which is a % followed by a code. As said, the code for a space is %20.Still rolling rolling rolling......

thank you both for your replies. Any idea how to get back to where I was. I've been into control panel and it seemed to say my search provided was googlemail which isn't a lot of use. anything you can suggest to get back to where I was?0

True. It's bundled in with all sorts of programs now and you have to be care to untick boxes to prevent it being installed.Still rolling rolling rolling......<

I seem to spend ages removing google toolbar and google update. Everytime you do update something to do with google it adds it back.

Same here.
I use free Revo uninstaller and manually search for folders etc, but still often miss it lurking somewhere.
ps I'm a fan of GMail and use Googleapps, just don't like Chrome, toolbar etc.Move along, nothing to see.0
