I've had a Mobile Broadband data SIM with 3 for years, which I use with a dongle and a phone. I was looking for a way to lock casual access to my Android's phone SD card when I discovered the PUK code facility. Wondering what this was, I accepted the invitation to enter digits, thinking I was composing my own code. It didn't seem to do much, so I repeated it...and you can guess what happened! But I only realised this when I transferred the SIM to the dongle and found the PC asking for a PUK code.
So, I went to search for the solution but found that only 3 can provide it. Problem is, on 3's email help I need the phone no. (!) of the card. Funnily enough I never learnt it, and can only view it by using the SIM to access 3. Don't want to spend money on their profiteering 0843 no.s so is there another way?

On your bill, on your box, ask someone you called with it? Ultimately your mistake, and 0843 profit will be significantly lower than the cost of providing the technical support. Spend that pound or so!0

Borrow a 3 phone from someone and ring 500 for free. Say no to 0870 says ring 0800 3586796 which is sales and choose option 2 to get through to customer service. Free from a landline or even a call box if you can find one. Later comment on there says this number was replaced with 0800 3588460.0
