HMRC are the ones who came up with the complicated rules aren't they? Seems a little unfair to insult IFAs on this point.

Well perhaps they are cakes then. Or was that a biscuit?

I think the only insult is to the impenetrable tax rules we have.

I wasn't insulting IFAs or knobs!
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.

    Cooker knobs are way better.
My amplifier knob only goes up to 10 but the cooker one goes all the way to 300..........
    :p

My amplifier knob goes to 11, for when I need that extra push over the cliff.

I wasn't insulted. Plus, I know a few IFAs who could easily fit the description in the "other" sense. ;)

But do your clients get cakes or biscuits and are they VATable? Do you stock Pringles in order to avoid the VAT on crisps? Do you have to pay an accountant to manage taxes on your snack cupboard?

    Need more cake...

This may be a bit Norfolk but it actually tends to be the other way around. I am frequently get supplies of runner beans, bottles of drink (often homemade), tomatoes, jam, mustards and chutneys, cakes baked for me, biscuits and even sandwiches made.

ATS have confirmed they are removing VAT from their platform charge (ISAs and dealing accounts) from 1st May (more than enough for a quarterly )
