Acid and abrasive! Indeed that is not good!

A cocktail like that would eat through the enamel in no time.
Doesn't the bicarb neutralise the acid though?
Still, sounds harsh so wouldn't try it.

    Not instantly!

The mix would probably froth whilst it was reacting, but the paste would be acid until that reaction finished.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Best toothpaste I have found for whiter teeth is White Glo

    http://www.boots.com/en/White-Glo-Extra-Strength-Whitening-Toothpaste-Professional-Choice_1104649/

It is £3.99 but that includes a really good toothbrush and for me it works as a reminder to replace my toothbrush more often because when I run out of toothpaste I get a new brush too!
