Basic bank account as secondary account?

It could be if you want a current account or mortgage with the same bank and you have a CPD marker.
Though the CPD marker can be put on for certain things to be declined. For example with Lloyds you can have a CPD marker against Credit Cards. Which means you won't get a credit card with them but they could say give you an overdraft or loan.
Or you could have a CPD marker placed on everything, which means you wont be accepted for anything.
Just because you have a marker with one bank doesn't mean you will if you decide to change banks.

You can directly apply for any basic bank account as far as I am aware. Barclays additionally use the method you describe as an alternative method of application.CherlokHomes wrote: »Not entirely sure you can just apply for a basic account I thought you apply for an account and be scored and if it comes back with a basic account then that's what you get or current account.0 -
No, they don't - it's simply the case that many people who have basic accounts have the factors that cause a CPD flag.Be a bit careful with a basic account, some financial establishments well put a CPD credit policy decline on your internal file if you have a basic account with them. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Thanks for all of your replies. I think I'm going to leave it for now; I don't want to risk damaging my internal profile with potential future lenders for what is essentially a budgeting issue.
Cheers. :beer:0 -
I applied for one at Santander and got it. No debit card, no chq book, no overdraft etc.CherlokHomes wrote: »Not entirely sure you can just apply for a basic account I thought you apply for an account and be scored and if it comes back with a basic account then that's what you get or current account. We’ve had to remove your signature. Hi Gosh Darnit
I have three basic bank accounts with three different banks and many savings accounts despite being on a DMP and having a CCJ .
YBS Cash Transactor a/c - Main Bills by Direct Debit (no debit card)
Lloyds basic a/c - Motoring / petrol spending
Natwest basic - Non-DD sundry bills / expenses (has debit card)
Co-op Cashminder a/c - Personal spending
So, yes you can have a basic account with another bank
