Hi after getting fed up with cold calls from people asking if I wanted help to reclaim PPI and old account charges I have decided to get myself sorted and do it myself with the help of MSE website.
However at the start I now become unstuck before I have actualy got anywhere as I was about to fill out the template for closed account/s and have realised I dont know what my account numbers actually were anymore as they were accounts I had at least 4 years or so back and the debts were wiped with a DRO and I rather stupidly dont appear to have any information about the accounts, other than my memory to which cards and banks they were issued by of course, and even some of these have now moved to others as they have closed.
Can anyone help by telling me how I can trace the account numbers to be able to complete the template letter and start the process rolling please?
Thank you in advance

Hiya
Have you any old bank statements?
If not call into the branch where you had the cards, they may be able to help tracking down the info for you, that would be the first thing I would try and go from there, like a credit report etc, good luck xThe one and only "Dizzy Di"

Thanks for the info.
I wouldnt know which banks are linked to them as they were credit cards like SkyCard, Aqua etc although I did have some with Nationwide, Barclays and Lloyds TSB and come to think of it I also had loans with some providers too!
I hope I can trace the account numbers now as I am pretty sure I maybe in for a small windfall or two at this rate

You say that the PPI wich you are considering reclaiming relates to debts that were written off by a DRO.
The write off applies to both parties. Once you reopen the matter by submitting PPI complaints the lenders are entitled to take the same approach and in the first instance offset the amounts of any PPI repayable against the debts written off.0 -
Hi thanks for the advice I hadnt been aware of that. So just to confirm as the cards and loans were subject to a DRO and written off this now means I am not entitled to reclaim is that what your saying?
Thanks

No, you can reclaim but if if you are successful lenders can offset any amount due against the amount written off and you would only get the balance, if any, plus interest.0

Thanks. It is a bit of a gamble then and in my case probably not worth the hassle.
