unable to change

Anyone else unable to change suppliers? I have comfort plus with Scottish Power and cannot change my supplier. To make matters worse they decided to withdraw all offers except standard rate. Have been to the ombudsman but they cannot help. Would love the freedom of choice that the majority have.

What reason have you been given for not being able to change supplier?

Because most suppliers don't support this form of metering. Change your metering and you can change supplier.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • The metering can be changed, cost hundreds of pounds. Doesn't achieve saving

It will in the long run. You mostly have to spend money to save money.

You have to look carefully at your current set-up and work out if it is convenient to use it optimally. Not all households are compatible with these fancier set-ups. If you are not able to comfortably make use of current scheme then you will have to pay the money to switch to a different type of wiring and metering. Are you stuck with an electric-only alternative or can you get access to gas?

(Remember MPs are whingeing to concertina up the prices of tariffs yet again so remember to take at least another fifty pounds per year off any long term differences).
