Defaulted Egg and HSBC

I had a loan and a credit card with Egg and a loan with HSBC. Started around 2003/4. I defaulted on all around 2006/07. All were passed onto DCAs and I settled all in full within a couple of years when I found MSE and got back on my feet. All defaults are now cleared from my credit file.
I now want to see if I can reclaim my PPI. But if I am successful, will the money be paid to me or will they keep as I defaulted and assume that when they sold on the debt to the DCAs they did so at a reduced rate.
Also, if I contact Egg or HSBC can it re-ignite any old negative accounts on my credit reports?
Thank you!

Can you verify if you settled the full amount of the debt or whether you settled an agreed reduced amount?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I believe it was the full amount - I was paying several pounds a month to the DCAs. I should have the paperwork to confirm that the debts were settled0
