Can I get my deposit back????

When I sat in the driver seat one of the cracks started at the base of the windscreen and went up right through my line of sight over the steering wheel.0

What does your reciept say?
Did you specify 'subject to test drive'? for example? That way he can sort the car and you still walk away if it turns out you don't like it.
I'd take a friend down - is the price good? If the car had a decent MOT would you be happy?
Alternatively, how did you pay? The fact they are ignoring calls says a lot. You could try a chargeback on your credit card if that was how you did the deposit.
Finally, get down there and see them. Easy to ignore a call/text but take a friend for support and head down. Hard to ignore someone in your face putting off other punters with their difficult questions....What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
I agreed the sale subject to it passing the mot, and paid the deposit in cash and received an invoice stating the deposit paid. The invoice doesn't state any small print about deposits. I understand the idea of going down to the dealer with a friend but I was hoping to avoid having to do this, it's quite a trip to the dealers plus I'm not good with confrontation.0

Ask for the deposit back. If they say no they say OK you will buy the car. But 1st you need to phone VOSA and ask about the dodgy MOT they just had done to it.
You may need VOSA to collect the car for you or deliver it straight to them.
Years a go my mate bodged a car for the MOT and sold it soon after. Guy came back soon after for a refund mate said no.
So the guy went to the MOT station saying this should not have passed. They ended up buying the car off him.
MOT stations dont want the trouble of VOSA visiting them because they passed a car that shouldnt have.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Why, can you not drive it with a cracked window?0 -
I can't believe that a dealer would even consider selling a car with a windscreen like that; it's the sort of obvious thing they'd have tried to get fixed before MOT.
Unless he's hoping that you'll take it in that state and get it repaired on your insurance later. But if it's an actual crack of any real size it shouldn't have passed MOT.0 -
Crack in windscreen, No MOT, No test drive? Walk away!
There is plenty of other cars out there, probably in better condition
