Barclaycard Initial

I have a Barclaycard initial card and have complained that the interest rate is too high at 29.9% I was hoping that they would upgrade my account to another card without having to close and reopen however they haven't they have offered me an 8% decrease on the interest rate.
Has anyone else managed to get the account changed to another card?

    Just apply for the Barclaycard Platinum and close this one down.

    I had the initial with a £650 Limit. Applied for the Platinum and they gave me a 5K limit.

    Its just easier.

    Did you close the Initial down before applying for the Platinum?
