Surely the bottom shelf is the safest place for them? They stand more chance of being dropped if they are higher up.
They are not meant for 2 year olds to play with. If it had been made for a child I could understand your concerns, but we cannot make everything in the world childproof, precautions have to be taken.
They are clearly designed for Valentines day presents and might not be to your taste and only £1, but they would not sell them if people did not buy them!
They were on a shelf just below a 2-year old's eye level. As they shatter when dropped by a 2 year old they would shatter if they fell of the shelf.
Poundland are now moving them to the top shelf, adding a shelf label saving for adults only and getting staff to warn customers that they are not suitable for children. If they had done that in the first place in response to my complaint I would not have needed to start this thread.
OF COURSE glass is dangerous when it breaks. I am not saying glass breaks, I am alerting people to the fact that THIS glass breaks EASILY in an extremely nasty and dangerous manner. The difference between breaking this glass and a pint bear mug is about the difference between breaking a window with ordinary glass and one with safety glass.0 -
You want the shop to be 'responsible' by slapping a label on it saying 'not a toy', or moving the item to a higher shelf, but where is any recognition of your partner's responsibility to protect her child?
Why on earth should Poundland have the item tested as a toy when it isn't - it is being sold as a Valentines gift to be given to an adult, by an adult.
Check out Clinton Cards or Card Factory. Both are selling Valentine's Gifts aimed at young children (see my other post). Valentine's Day is not just for adults these days. So where do you get the information that it was being sold to be given to adults from?0 -
Check out Clinton Cards and the Card Factory. They have valentines gifts specifically targeted at small children. These carry the CE mark and bear statements like "Not suitable for children under 3 as it contains small parts" and "If giving to a child under 1 year old make sure you remove all packing". They would not do that if people did not BUY Valentines gifts for small children. As they obviously DO I cannot understand why everybody on here is so against my warning. If it does not apply to you then why post?

If you had been supervising the child in the first place the accident would not have happened and you would not have needed to start this thread.
I hope you are proud of your good citizenship regarding these snowglobes because you certainly can't be proud of your parenting skills.0 -
Poundland also sell disposable razors and bleach. Fortunately they assume common sense would kick in for most of us as to know of the hazards involved with such products, without needing a warning sign to remind us of it.0

Ermm actually it's not a pint glass can also leave some very sharp thin shards as a part time bar maid who has broken MANY a glass I can speak from personal experience.
Also a pint glass can break as easy as anything too. I once went to picked a glass off of the bar and my ring (thin solid band no stones) touched the side as I picked it up and the glass exploded.
I've even seen the bottom of a glass fall out with a clean cut as someone was walking with it.First Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -

Go into clintons, you will find Glass globes on the lower shelves as shops should'nt have to child proof their shops to that degree, as it's the parents job to makesure their children keep their hands to themselves.0

I went into Clintons Cards. I could not find any glass globes. What I did find was that their products carried the CE Mark and those VALENTINE's gifts aimed at children DID carry warnings.
But did the globe in £land say it was aimed at children? No it didn't so there is your answer.
Next time have the child on reins and tell it to keep its mitts to itself problem solvedFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0
