Biology homework

DD has to come up with a hypothesis for biology homework and in a nutshell, the brief is that it has to be an outline of a biological problem and show how scientists are working to solve the problem.
She doesn't want to do the subjects that the rest of the class are doing (cancer/disease mostly) and is kicking herself for not going on the field trip to the zoo to do breeding in captivity.
Obviously there needs to be plenty of references available.
She's asked me for advice for an easyish subject (in terms of plenty of graphs and stats etc) and I'm having a blank moment. Can anyone help with ideas please?

How about Tiger conservation? In the wild, introducing corridors for them to travel and increase diversity of the genome? Or using scientific research to suggest changes in attitude?I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

Would a rare genetic condition apply ?
I can provide mountains of information on a particular one, if that suited.I don't know much, but I know I love you ....<30 -
Thank you so much, I will put these to her and let you know what she chooses! Apologies for being a bit dopey tonight, we are both tired and between us, couldn't come up with anything that a) someone else hadn't done or b) she could easily find info on!
A rare genetic condition would be a good one IMO, but obvs it's up to her.
Many thanks

Feel free to PM me if this is what she decides to go for

Maybe she can do it on silk goats? They have genetically modified goats to produce spider silk protein in their milk, which can then be processed into pure silk. Spider silk is said to be one of the strongest materials on the earth,so very useful for armour and bandages, but also crossed paths with controversial genetic modification - http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-16554357
(I'd totally do it on silk goats if I was at school)0 -
