I know this is an old thread, but does the Santander 123 account allow to have 2 separate accounts with debit cards.
I have applied for a second account at my first direct account but they will charge me £10 a month as I can't meet the average £1000 a month target.
Any other ideas welcome I'm looking to leave enough in one account for my bills plus a little excess and then an account for spends with a debit card.
another posibilty is a pre paid debit card but not so sure about these0 -
Hi Vikingfan. You are only allowed one current account individually with S123, however you are allowed to open a joint account (And your partner can have their own current account too). Bonus if you are part of a couple as you are allowed three between you, not so great if you are single...
Also note that S123 are upping their monthly charge from £2 to £5 a month...No longer Debt free

Thanks Claire, no good for me then as I'm single I'll stick with my first direct one and maybe get a prepaid card to see how that works0

Have you thought about opening another account with another bank? I have a Halifax Current account where my pay goes into (So I get the £5 a month) then I transfer money into my barclays and S123 for my bills. My savings are stored in my S123 so I get the interest on them.
All three I have debit cards for (Although I only use my barclays one for most spending and transfer the money over from my halifax each week)No longer Debt free

Have a look at the Tesco current account. No monthly minimum payment needed, no account fee, 3% interest on balances up to £3k and comes with a debit card0
