Hi I am asking this on behalf of my parents as they could do with knowing when they will have some money coming in. They applied as a couple because my mom has a sick note for her current heart and breathing problems. They applied last Wednesday 29th January. But was informed over the phone after going through everything that they can start their claim from the 15th January. The adviser on the phone said that a form will be sent out through the post within the next 7-10 working days after the 29th. Which would ask her to confirm everything and send off any relevant proof. Does anybody know how long this process takes? How long before they get their first payment and payments there after? Did ask the adviser on line but he wasnt able to help on the actual time scale. Thoughts anyone

It varies hugely, between office and region.
I doubled give if about a week, after sending the form back, and then phone and ask how long it will take.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

From advice that I was recently given from the dwp process team never sent any form in to them it will take two weeks before they receive it and to go to my local job centre and have the staff their email the form to the benefit office it will take a day to reach them.
what benefits are your parents claiming? if the form need to be sent at the Stratford benefit office have them emailed and of course make sure you have a photocopy of everything first then ring the dwp at Stratford and check if they have received the email.
hope this helps I have been sending form and documents through via email that way that was a tips I have from the Stratford process team some people do care for others from now on I will be email forms and letters through.0 -
I deal with Stratford, and always use recorded or special delivery, if I send anything to them..
I have got to be fair, they seem to deal with letters etc. pretty quickly, and gave never lost anything yet.

You are correct and I was told by Stratford it usually takes two weeks before they even look at the forms, most forms are left with their sorting office one whole week then take another before the process team actually have it in hands to look at and then it is passed on to the decision maker all in all you are talking about at 6 weeks, but by email it's much quicker half the times.

Yes I do to but even with recorded delivery they still told me they haven't received anything it was then after my rant and raved another person at stratford told me about email things to them from now on and then chase it the next day, once you know they have received the email then i was told it can take two weeks better than by posting.0 -

If your parents are able it is best to pick the forms up from the local job centre fill them up photocopy then have it emailed to the relevant department which will be on the form where they tell you to post. Recorded delivery are no longer safe with the dwp now people are using Special delivery where the letter need to be deliver in the hand of their staff.0 -
Jobcentre may refuse to do email because they told my parents they have nothing to do with esa.0

Huh, that's the first I've heard of it but they should still be able to email forms and paper through to the process office, at my local job centre you can email forms and letters to Stratford process team as long as you have the right department.0 -
ive never had anything e mailed... but they have faxed things through if theyre asked nicely0

Had confirmation through that benefit is going to start. Did have another letter asking for evidnence (ie sicknote) but think they have crossed because have sent that in so awaiting first payment now. May give them a ring on Monday to check they have everything they need and ask them when she is likely to start getting the payments. Mom and Dad getting a bit desperate now.0
