Hello
I wondered if anyone might know where I stand with this.
I have an iPhone 5 under contract with Vodafone (24 months) which I sourced through the Carphone Warehouse have had since June 2013. Since about a month ago I have had an issue with the charger lead - it sometimes fails to charge the phone or cuts out intermittently whilst charging so if I leave it, I come back to find it hasn't been charging. I also think this impacting the battery life as it doesn't seem to be lasting as long as it used to.
I have not had an iPhone or Apple products before but have heard that Apple keep things under warranty for a year? Where would I stand with this if I took it into an Apple shop - or do I have to go through my contract provider, which I presume is Carphone Warehouse?
This is the original Apple charger that came with the phone and I have never used any other ones.
Thank you:cool:

Their warranty does not cover the chargers unfortunately0

Is it a genuine apple charger and cable? Can you try a different cable to see if that makes a difference?1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
I've had problems with both my iphone5 chargers within months of having them. I blamed my teenagers but at looking reviews on Apple website, they seem to be pretty fragile. - http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MD818ZM/A/lightning-to-usb-cable-1m?fnode=3a
Although it would appear they are covered under 1 year warranty - http://store.apple.com/uk/question/answers/product/MC500B/A/what-is-the-warranty-for-this-charger/QYTAU4P27AXUJXXU9
I refused to pay £15 but I bet I've spent nearly that trying to find generic ones that work for long = Apple seem to update their software to stop these working. Try ebay for one but ensure it's compatible with ios7, but I'd buy 2 to be sure!
Edit - I'm talking about the usb lead part, not the power adapter btw0 -
Just a quick thing as had this with a friends iphone 5 cable, it might not be the cable at all.
Shine a light inside the lightning socket on the iPhone and see if there is a lot of lint or dust inside it.
If there is then this could be what's causing the problem, I used a pair of tweezers to remove the lint buildup in my friends phone and voila plugged the cable back in and it charged.
So try this before considering replacing your cables and charger.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -
Go to an apple store, it is covered under the 1 year warranty, I have had my cable and charger swapped over on separate occasions:beer:0
