Cages now rattled. Manager now wants date and time of incident so he can investigate. Hrrmph! After a month of my wife chasing them, it takes a visit from Trading Standards, threatening letters relating to dire consequences of participating in a fraud to get Virgin to stage 1 of what a reasonable company would do with a loyal customer.0

PS can a mod rename this thread to Virgin Active Solihull which will be more helpful than the generic name I started with.0

POPLA code comes up on website as invalid, though validates on the Parking Cowboys site. Me thinks my comment to the manager about wanting them charged may have triggered some swift action by MET.
So if I get it in the post, do MET get charged even if they withdraw now?0 -
A POPLA code does not show as 'invalid' if the charge has been cancelled. It is more likely showing as invalid due to your browser being incompatible with the POPLA page. Send the POPLA appeal by post tomorrow if another browser doesn't resolve the 'invalid' problem (it is a known glitch).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

its likely to be a browser issue, so if using firefox try opera or chrome or slimbrowser instead0 -

I thought you must have had a brandy doing this appeal; LOL
The only other comment I would have suggested would be regarding inferences to the driver. (appeals can be made by keeper in own right)
Suggested alteration:
I am the registered keeper only of the vehicle and in submitting this appeal do not accept the validity of the claim by MET. I am simply using the appeal's system as a method of minimising the harassment as MET have made it clear in their response to my complaint that they are not acting reasonably.
The driver on the day in question was a member of the club and bound by conditions of membership, so this aspect must be considered when reading this appeal in addition to the further appeal points raised regarding the validity of this claim.
The appeal is a sure winner and I think that MET will be so confused by this they will throw in the towel in any case.:D
Regarding the POPLA code - what browser are you using?
Chrome can cause some difficulties particular if you have two conflicting browers in operation on your computer. Try Firefox.0 -
4, thanks, your wording more literate!
Submitted. Next hare to start running, local Facebook campaign. I got in the Mail and Independent when Sainsbury's got my goat!0 -
Generic complaint on the use of recorded registration number systems being inherently unfair on the consumer sent to OFT.I believe OFT should direct the parking industry that:
1) All registration systems must be inherently easy to use and not require complex sequences of button pushing or dial turning.
2) All registration systems must produce a written receipt where the penalty charge exceeds a trivial amount (e.g. £2).
3) Any system relying on DVLA notices to keeper must warn the drivers to hold onto the ticket for at least 28 days (ideally, a date automatically generated on the receipt) to alert them to the possibility of a future claim against them.
Bother, missed the 4th thing I thought of, that is, that mistyped registration numbers shall always be valid grounds for appeal.0
