So hubby finished his temp job on the 17th jan so claimed on the 20th,
We got a letter stating he was only entitled to 70 a week due to the working tax run on.....
So got paid today and it was only £81.
Taking in to account the fact they don't pay the first 3 days of a claim this is still short and should be around 110 I reckon.
I don't understand why they give with one hand (run on of tax credits) and take away with the other!
Will be ringing up later, any advice?

They take the WT as income and that comes off the JSA. I think I got £9 on my first week.I don't understand why they give with one hand (run on of tax credits) and take away with the other!
I think the run on is to minimise cash flow problems. So there isn't any disruption in your payments.0

You should also get CTC, CB, are you not receiving these?
Also you could get Housing Benefit, council tax benefit, free school meals and other benefits too.
Generally unless you are a homeowner or have savings the system is fairly generous to those with children.0

So a lot more than £80 to live on then.0

Ignoring all the other complications, one rarely gets two weeks worth of JSA to last two weeks at the beginning of a claim.
It's no different to starting work part way through a pay period. Start half way through a month and your first pay is half a month to get you over the following month.
JSA will cover from the date of claim (less the 3 days unless it links with a previous claim) up to first regular signing day. That's only ever going to be part of two weeks and likely to be less than a week.
At least at the beginning of a JSA claim one has wages that are generally higher than benefits and likely to see you through to the first of regular fortnightly payments.0
