This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Suffering from lack of sleep again, just could not get to sleep last night then seemed to wake up again every 5 minutes when I did manage it.
Sausage meatballs and pasts for dinner so nice and easy, then I will try for an early night and some catch up sleep. Took the memory foam mattress topper off at the weekend, so may put that back on again and see if it helps.
Butterfly Brain - great news on DD liking job and we spend so much time there, it's got to be a bonus to have some fun too!
Need to get going but will try and catch up later with everyone's news.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning all
Clear sky here today so the car will need scraping before I go to work.
No breakfast for me, just a cuppa, I'm back on the porridge at work as words were said & it has improved somewhat.
I listed some stuff on ebay, I don't expect to make much but every little helps.
No cooking for me this week, hubby is on lates & doesn't want to eat at ten at night, so we make do with egg or beans on toast.
Someone gave me a gift for one of DD's twins y'day a baby jumper that looks like a tux, I've put a pic on facebook & my blog, it's so cute.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning All
It appears to be wet and windy again. Looking forward to seeing some sunshine soon. Washing will go on the airers, it may never get pegged out again!
Housework fairly up to date, ironing finished yesterday. Going to leave throwing the duster about till Friday as DD and I are going down to my brothers at the weekend so it will be clean and tidy when we get home.
Chicken stir fry for tea, trying to use up everything from the fridge so there will be some interesting meals later in the week!
Well done on the job BBrain's DD, sounds like she enjoyed it.
Julie - chin up, you will be back to normal soon, just give it a little time. Thinking of you.
Enjoy Tuesday everyone, hugs to those in need. Take care. XX0 -
Morning x
Went for a day out with the family on Sunday. Yesterday DH had the day off, but all 3 children are poorly with a virus
On Saturday I made stew in the Slow Cooker (DH likes proper food when he gets back) only my SC is too small (3,5 ltrs) and I had no room to make dumplings, so on Sunday I bought a new 6,5ltr SC and yesterday I made rice pudding (never made this before) and it was amazing, especially with leftover stew pie for dinner firstnow I'm half way to convincing DH that I need a new steamer (I've lost a basket through breakage, a second one is about to break, the handle is missing and the boost button doesn't turn off so you end up with mushy veg!)
Anyway, today I was thinking of going to the toddler group, but it really depends on how DD1&2 are feeling when they wake (the fact that DD1 isn't up yet isn't a good sign)
Yesterday I also used my MrT coupons and boosted them, I got DS a years subscription to Rugby World for his birthday (in June) and got some vouchers for DS and my father to go to Twickenham for a tour and access to the rugby museum (dad's birthday is 2 days after DS), my dad is very excited
So yesterday I used UHT milk for the Rice Pudding, and HM Yogurt and I noticed the dates were 26th Feb. We dug out all our UHT milk and they have the same dates... And I have another 13 litres!!!!!
So I've made a plan to use up 11 litres and I have a friend who will take 1. I'm using 2 for yogurt, 4 for rice pudding, 3 for cheese sauce (4 lasagna's and loads for DD lunches), 1 for American Pancakes (freezer), and 1 for cooking (Toad in the hole for dinner, followed by pancakes, mini toad in the hole for DD in the freezer and potato Dauphinouse a few days later). Any ideas for the last litre?? I may have to try an extra batch of yogurt...
Oh dear, how did that happen?!?!? I'm going to have to be more careful with dates I think...
I am making Mini Wholewheat Pizza for DD1 lunch today. Dinner today is Chicken Jambalaya
Hope everyone has a great day xWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -

Julie how are you today? xx
I had an impression done at the dentist yesterday, I felt like I had a mouth full of playdoh
I've dragged some plastic shelving out of the shed for my seed trays. They're in the kitchen by the back door, they'll get plenty of light there.
E and R have told me to go round and see them but I can't because of this cold. I'm very close to actually throwing a tantrumThey're going to E's workplace to show him off on friday, I'm going to have to make sure I see them before that. I can't have their friends seeing the baby before me – I am the auntie, y'know
Butterfly Brain I forget to share info! His name is Ethan and he weighs 8lb 10oz. I'd love to share a pic but I promised my brother I wouldn't plaster him all over the internet

We've been offered a free greenhouse – 12ft x 7ft :j We can't put it up til the autumn because we've already planted onions and garlic next to the old smaller greenhouses. We're keeping one of the older ones, that and the new one will take up more room. I have no idea where to store all that glass so it won't get broken
We picked the last of the sprouts yesterday, they've been weighed. So the grand total of homegrown food for last year is 207lb :j
I managed to get everything done around the house yesterday, all I have to do is hang some washing out. So I'll have some computer, yarn and planning time today and bring myself up to date with my little projects. I have a habit of starting the next thing while the current three things aren't quite finished

Morning everyone
Now light, still wet underfoot, but has dried out a bit but still loads of water laying in the fields and at the sides of the roads, no frost here this morning and light cloud.
DH up and gone to work early but not stupid early.
Dinner last night was smoked sausage and mushroom pasta in crème fraiche sauce with a part baked roll, clean plates all round. Tonight the menfolk are having scampi, chips and peas, I’ll be having salmon (I remembered to get it out to defrost), jacket potato and veg.
Work yesterday was a manic Monday – we opened the doors and there was only 1 person waiting – which is unusual but within 15 minutes we had a queue to the door and it was pretty much continuous right up until 3.45pm. I think today will be busy too, as so many people came in saw how busy we were or were told how long the wait to see someone was and said they’d come back today!
Went in my lunch break and collected the boys xbox – not really sure that it’s fixed as sometimes it still won’t open but does majority of the time – will see how it goes over the next couple of days. Went to collect DH’s suit and it hasn’t come back from the repair place yet – will try again tonight after work as they are due a delivery back late this morning.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
Wet here and sky is very dark, looks like a day of rain. Off to work for me and dd, OH has already gone. I need to empty the dw this morning and put chicken curry and a quorn curry in the sc's ( I was given a small 2nd one which I use for veggie dishes)
Need to do a wash tonight and order more insulin for little dog. I did an online shop with Waitrose last night I had a £20 off voucher which made it pretty much the same price as my normal shop, I do love the quality of there food.
Julie, sorry to hear you are feeling so down xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all,
Hailstones now, taking turns with gusty wind and pouring rain. Frogs and locusts next I think.
Today is designated as final form filling in day. I don't want to, but DH says to follow the process, and if they refuse to renew the Blue badge we'll find a way of managing as we did before it. As I remember, I used to do a lot of sitting in the car while he hiked to the shop
Forgot to get the beef out of the freezer last night, so it's whizzing round in the microwave. Today has to be a beef stew - nothing else will do I decided - and it will use up a lot of odds and ends of veg.
More pen pushing, but I should be finished by Saturday: a week earlier than the deadline, but they have given out smaller allocations this time, hence I'll have fewer pennies in the pot
Happy new nephew Tru :T
Keep warm everybodyI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -

Morning all,
Haven't heard from OH so presume MIL is still here.:o
Got an appointment at the Halifax this morning to open DGS a savings account, as I opened one for his sister last year. Then the dentist for a check up. Should have gone in November, but was back in hospital then.
Going to DD's afterwards, she has asked me to dinner, so no cooking for me today.
Enjoy this sunny day:TI Believe in saving money!!!:T
