Valentine gift night in ?

Hi all ,
Money is very tight at the moment and this valentines day it will be our 1st as an engaged couple so wanted to have a nice one
We don't fancy going out as everywhere will be full and overpriced so decided to stay in .
Now this gave me an idea of doing like a mini hamper of night in goodies and I thought of getting popcorn and a bottle of wine as part of it , due to Christmas just being over we have plenty of films that were given to us so that is sorted but I wanted to put something else in there which was romantic but cheap to do .
My fianc! has been a huge support for me the last few years through tough times and even though I tell him and show him all year round how much he means to me I wanted this valentines to be extra special .
Does anyone have any ideas ?

There's a few cheap ideas in the Valentine's FiVers thread that may help you out, such as the Smitten Love Labels - can easily make these yourself and stick on different types of sweets, and the 'bananas for you' one on a banana of course
You can also write a message on a banana with a thin point and it turns brown to show up your text.
You could also include the personalised wrapper choc on that thread, or again you could make and print your own - or Google for free printables
If you want less sweets, you could make heart shaped cupcakes :jHonorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. Try a google image search for toilet paper roll valentines craft- there are actually some really good things on there.0

some candles and matches (for your perfect match)

strawberries marshmallows and chocolate to melt (a fun hands on dessert)

A few years back when I was broke my other half asked me not to buy him anything so instead I made a heart shaped chocolate cake. I then went to Poundland and bought one of their lovely confectionery/cake boxes and heart shaped cutters. I made him heart shaped shortbread biscuits (cheap and really easy) and dipped half of some in chocolate and others I drizzled it in lines across. When I gave him the biscuits he went mad and said you promised you wouldn't buy me anything. He was really shocked and chuffed when I said I'd made them (says a lot for my previous baking ability lol). So could you cook something nice? Does he like cheesecake as that can be made into his favourite flavours?0
