Hi all and thanks for reading,

My car received a Parking Charge Notice the other day while parked at the Uni of York which looks very similar to the one seen in this very old thread: showthread.php?t=1885733 (Sorry, I'm not able to post urls as a new user)

The most notable difference being that they are now calling it a Parking Charge Notice rather than a Civil Parking Notice. A quick google of the Northampton address yields "Car Parking Partnership", a company I've seen a few people on MSE have had experience with.

The thread: showthread.php?t=4739803 in particular describes a pretty similar situation to the one I am in, however I am well within the appeal period, as well as the 14 days they are offering a charge of £50 as opposed to the "normal" £80. (A "pay the full amount and we'll refund you" job)

I understand that since October 2012 and the introduction of POFA, the advice is to not ignore these parking charge notices from PPCs. I have spoken to a friend who received a number of these notices from the university late last year (winter 2013) and has ignored them with no repercussions (no letters, no contact). I have also read the stickies and newbie advice threads but I would just like a little reassurance and advise from someone more knowledgeable in this subject than me.

Thanks in advance and sorry if I have forgotten to included any information needed in order to advise me.

Hopefully answers your questions about both stages of appeal (after the first letter arrives, whatever it's called).
