Soon to be starting a new job in oxford. Will be using the park and ride at water Eaton.

The parking machines are cash only with no change given (that's convenient!) or pay online but there's no weekly ticket available and naf all saving on a monthly ticket. I'm reluctant to buy a monthly ticket because I get occasional use of a parking space but can't face having to find so much loose change.

They do have a prepay weekly card for the bus but as some of my trips will be off peak it works out more expensive than buying day tickets! But again bus is cash only with no change.

Between the parking and the bus it's going to cost me £100 a month. I can't believe there are no weekly tickets or the option to pay by card.

What a lousy system!

Are there any Oxford commuters here?

Have a look at 'Park at my house' website and see if there's a private arrangement that would be cheaper? Also there is some limited time free parking on street in Oxford (even though they want you to use the Park and Ride) but I seem to recall it's only up to 3 hours and gets full.

You could also email the HR Dept or Manager and ask what the other employees recommend as the cheapest option?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Yeah I asked and was told there's some short duration on street parking (though I couldn't find any when I looked) but in my experience that's a quick way to get several parking tickets each month.

I looked into park at my house and all want a lot more than the daily cost of the park and ride.
