Hello All,
Have anyone ever done an Ingeus interview via the telephone and what questions they asked. My friend cathy has a telephone interview tomorrow she is in the esa wrag last one she went was June last year 2013 until recently got sent a letter for an appointment.
Of course I can answer about her illness etc but just wanted to know what else they ask or what tricks they play on you?
any advice would be much appreciated. I have already told the adviser I will be doing most of the talking on cathy's behalf by email so he should be aware and of course the paper trail is there so he cannot say anything dodgy!
Just do not trust those people at all.
Thanks

Speaking personally (though I am not with igneus) - these interviews have never risen to the name.
They are basically offering various options - and me explaining that these are impractical due to my health, and yes I have considered them.
Exactly what the interview is like will depend on your adviser - and their perception of your condition.
Recording the call isn't a bad idea.0 -

Thank you for your reply appreciate it, I was thinking of recording the telephone conversation on my ipad, I hope I can as I will be in my home and not in their Office building but what ever way I will let the adviser know that I am either recording or taking notes down that should avoid unnecessary lies from Ingeus.0 -

You say she had one last June..did they play tricks on her then? Why do you think they play tricks on people...have they played them on you?
Remember only the bad things get reported and the good things get forgotten about.
Another thing to think about, if they feel that you as her 'spokesperson' are being purposely obstructive they may refuse to speak to you and then she will have to deal with it on her own.0 -

The tricks they played was being extremely nice and friendly and said they understand she cannot participate to any group activity or work program and that it will take a very long time for her before she is well to do anything then in between talking the guy was asking questions like when will you be ready for work? talking is a skill no one loose, so you'll be fine in a new job, where do you see yourself in a year time? what job would you like to do? I answered for her in the end he's had to put NO to every questions, cathy even walked out at one point she had a panic attack, the guy gave up and told her she doesn't have to sign the form cut a long story short they suggested she sees one of their mental health professional LOL after me interogating her and asked her to provide documents about her mental health professional she canceled the appointment cathy had with her and that was the last interview she had with Ingeus until now.

I am not sure what you mean by good and bad things get reported, the good things are cathy's case is genuine better than theirs and we made sure she has every evidence they need which we usually gladly give them should they ask for anything, Ingeus don't seems to like evidence from experience.
Another thing to think about, if they feel that you as her 'spokesperson' are being purposely obstructive they may refuse to speak to you and then she will have to deal with it on her own.
I have warned them that she cannot cope or talk to people on the telephone it's been on her record before Ingeus came about and if they say she need to speak and not me she'll sure loose her temper, Ingeus has been warned about cathy's unexpected mood swings and can be violent, her mother two weeks ago hospitalised a patient from her care home by throwing her down the stairs and on numerous occasions has been violent to other patients in the care home, cathy has the same mental illness as her mother, sister, aunts, uncles and cousins it's a family history, she has poor memory and her mother have severe dementia, cathy's is milder at the moment but she forgets things within minutes, again from experienced Ingeus and dwp don't like when you mentioned a mentally ill person has violent mood swings, cathy has a history of violent mood swings her mental illness run way back since she was 12 years old so it's a long going illness and not one just started because of the hard regime and changed in the benefit systems. If you have long and hard evident Ingeus and dwp tend accept it more, letters has been written about cathy's past mental history Ingeus cannot denied they didn't even exited then and I'll be damn if they think otherwise, I've know the family since I was 15 years old I am now 50 years old so no one is going to tell me about her or her mother's illness. I've been to every of her medical assessment with the dwp when on IB she was put on indefinite IB because of her severe mental illness then all of a sudden they change everything and decides she is fit for work, I shall fight on it's me against the dwp and Ingeus.0 -
Did she not appeal the WRAG award when it was made?
Her illness sounds severe enough to have fitted at least one of the descriptors which give Support Group placement.
If she were to placed into SG, she wouldn't need to be interviewed by the WP or JCP.
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -

Thank you, yes cathy is severe with her mental illness as mentioned before she been mentally ill since a young child, she had a massive breakdown at the age of twelve years old due to her family history, her mother and father.

I was hoping she would be in the support group but as you've probably heard times and times again ATOS always make sure no one get into the support group so they put people in the wrag group and hoping you'll settle with that which to be honest we did at the time but cathy being too ill and depressed for me to appeal because she became suicidal and have frequent mood swings when she is like that I cannot communicate with her to do anything so I cannot follow it up for her.
Ingeus and dwp knows she should be in the support group but they do not care because their aims are to get people off benefits altogether, we are still awaiting news about her esa50 which was sent since october last year 2013, I just braising myself for the dreaded phone call and we shall see what happens.0 -
My advice would be, if she is not placed in SG, you need to ask for Mandatory Reconsideration and then appeal.
The CAB should be able to point you in the direction of some welfare rights help to do all this, or organisations like MIND, can be very helpful.
Over a third of people are now being placed into Support Group, before any appeal, more after appeal, so it is worth pursuing.

Yes I definitely will go down that root for cathy should she not put in the support group. She has a long history of her mental illness, she worked all her life, one of her job she was at for 20 years solid up to when she had another massive breakdown 10 years ago, so dwp and ingeus cannot say she doesn't want to work because she cannot work anymore and is getting worse just like her mother, her sister cannot work either and she too had a massive breakdown unfortunately some people are just born with this unfortunate illness and as been mentioned medically if a parent/parents suffer with mental illness it can be past on through the genes and that is her case which I have told both the dwp and ingeus those organisations need to learn more about mental health illnesses to understand that not everyone is frauding the systems some people are genuinely mentally ill and cannot do anything about it.

Can someone tell me if I can record the telephone interview we'll be in my house so they shouldn't be refusing because cathy won't be in their building and she is in my home which is private?0

Apparently according to folks at benefitsandwork website you can record any telephone call you want either dwp, atos or the like of ingeus you do not need to inform the person you are recording but if you want, you can let them know that you are recording the telephone call for personal use and poor memory due to your illness etc.
Ingeus was supposed to ring cathy at 12.00pm it is now 1.31pm and no phone call perhaps it is done by purpose to distract or cause maximum stress but I am re-assure her to keep calm and relax and not to panic if the phone goes in meantime I am just going about doing my house chores and not sit there doing nothing and wait for their call.
pen paper, recording machine at the ready.
shall update of the outcome later on.0
