I hope you can find someone to leave them with. A 9 year old is still vulnerable to be in charge of a 7 year old if an adult wants to abduct one or both of them.
Very slim chance of it happening of course but you can't take a chance these days.

OH and I are very confident in our kids and their abilities. We wouldn't let them out on their walks alone around the area if we didn't.
Thanks for the idea of asking the school office - forgot what a fountain of local knowledge some secretaries can be.
And to repeat, our job times are just not bendable. There is no 15 minutes to make up at the end. It starts when it starts or you don't have a job.
I personally didn't say they couldn't ever be alone, and I think it's great you trust in your children. However it isn't necessarily your children you need trust in, and I wouldn't rush my child's independence just for a job, for me, especially without even speaking to my boss first....seems to me you already decided what to do but was looking for reassurance that your responsible kids could be left alone for 15mins...PAD 2023 Debt total as of Dec 2022 £18,988.63*April £17,711.03

How about the other parents taking their kids to breakfast club?
I always got there about 10mins early and would happily watch kids if their parent had to shoot off for work. One mum was a paramedic. Her shift wouldn't wait. The breakfast club would report unaccompanied kids to the head. My start time was flexible, so it didn't trouble me to watch an extra one for 10 mins.0 -
Check the breakfast club will accept unaccompanied children.
What arrangements have you got in place for the school holidays or when the children are sick?Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -

They've been out for the past 2 years without us - the job has nothing to do with it. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Shame you don't live round here; some local childminders are MUCH more flexible. I know of some who offer overnight child care (for parents on shifts in the Health Service).
For the sake of 15 minutes you'd think someone would be able to have them!
Your County Council should also have a list of childminders.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear0 -
I thought you were a teacher, and therefore your start time is flexible within certain directed time constraints. I've never been in a school where directed time started before 8.30am."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." Country council website was where I got the 3 CMs serving the school from.
I also figured that 1 hours pay x 2 kids x 5 days a week would appeal to a childminder, but they were all inflexible on the 8am start.
Maybe they should talk to their boss as apparently every job can be moved 15 minutes either way, and you're an appalling parent if it can't be.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
