Customer compliance interview

I recieved a letter telling me that I have to attend an interview with a CCO on the 13th Feb, I have to take ID and bank statements, it says any change in circumstances should be reported, then says please phone if you can't make the appointment or if you want to report a change in circumstances, I'm in the support group of ESA and filled out a new form in Jan as my assessment is due in Feb I believe, my circs have not changed.
From reading various posts about this it's been said that a compliance interview is a fraud interview and this has worried me sick as I haven't committed fraud at all, and I thought a fraud interview was carried out under caution and you were sent a letter telling you that you have to attend an IUC. Is an interview with a compliance officer the same as a fraud investigation interview?

Why are you worrying then??????????????iluvmarmite wrote: »From reading various posts about this it's been said that a compliance interview is a fraud interview and this has worried me sick as I haven't committed fraud at all0 -
a compliance interview is just to check your claiming the right benefit under the right circumstances they are fairly common
if they called you in to maybe discuss fraud or they thought you was commiting fraud it would be an IUC letter (interview under caution ) letter they would send you0 -
sometimes compliance deal with downgraded fraud, this means the fraud team don't think the hit will be big enough for them to warrant investigating the claim,
but mostly its a straight forward benefit check, nothing to worry about0 -
Thank you for your replies, I tend to worry over everything arttodeeto. It's ok though as I spoke to the person whose name is on the letter and it's because my Husband recieves a private pension of £74 a month which they know about, he's been receiving it for nearly 2 years now and according to the dwp he should have had a few quid raise but he hasn't, and it's not going to raise either, it's going to stay the same amount for ever apparently. They just want to see his pension statement and bank details as proof it's still the same amount I gave them, which is no problem.
They could have just asked me to send it instead of sending one of those letters out as they are worrying.0 -
im glad you got it sorted out and its noting for you to worry about these things can be scary at times0

Yes, I had the same with my occupational pension.
As I'm mot on any means tested benefits, and my pensions don't affect my ESA, I was a bit confused, but apparently they need to see all pension statements, once a year now.
I posted last year's off and they were fine about it, just told me to post the next ones this coming April.
Even the woman I spoke to said it was a complete waste if time, theirs and mine, if there is no chance of it affecting anything - but 'rules is rules'..:wall:

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

The man I spoke to said I am just 1 of hundreds he is interviewing in the coming weeks for the exact same thing.0

Yeah, I know, they were not happy bunnies at the DWP.
For anyone getting one of these letters, and if it is about this subject, you can phone them, send them a copy of the pension statement/s and they generally cancel the interview.

Just in case anyone is reading this and is on contribution based ESA I wanted to add that pensions over a certain amount can affect contribution based ESA.
See here for the details;

I've just done that and he has canceled, I just have to send a copy of the pension statement, they don't need bank statements now as they will see from the pension one how much my Husband gets. They really should put in the letter what it concerns and just ask for a statement to be sent to them.0
