Just migrated out of bethere onto a different ISP. bethere (sky) said I can just dispose of the router however I want.
I'm guessing it's antiquated technology that will never be used again.
Can I just take their word for it? Heard of a few cases where someone got mixed messages from their ISP saying they can keep the router and then weeks later receive a self addressed envelope asking for the router back.

BE do not require their routers returned any more. I left last summer and still have my old BE TG582n router.

NVM. I have an app called auto call recorder and I have recorded the conversation on my phone!!!
So I have evidence that the operator told me I can keep the router.0 -
Agree with Bod1467. Sky have taken over BE, so are not requiring the old routers to be returned. Depending on the router you have, it's not necessarily antiquated technology, but it is locked down only to work on BE's service. It can be unlocked if you're technically minded, but for the most part, you're better off binning it (in accordance with waste electrical requirements of course).0

Ok, that's great. On the flipside just checked ebay for how much they're going for and it goes for a couple of quid plus postage. So worthless.
On the plusside, I'm not going to be tempted to offload this appalling, unreliable router onto a 3rd party. Got so annoyed with this router that I bought an aftermarket router for the first time in 12 years managing the home internet connection.
Channel would reset all the time. Port forwarding setting would get lost etc, very poor range etc.0 -
TBH I never had any issues with my TG582n when I used it.0

I know, and I have previously when people have said the same thing.
All I can say is that from my own experience (using only a wifi network - nothing hard-wired to the router) I never had any issues.0 -
When I left BE last year, they sent me an email unprompted, confirming that they would not require the router to be sent back, although I might receive communications from them to the contrary, which I could safely ignore.
As it happens, I didn't receive any such requests, but it might be worth emailing customer services if you want something "in writing".0 -
They don't want it back as its worth is considerably less than the 10 mins at minimum wage it would take someone to do the admin.
They were being sold in bulk for 99p each at a tech sale the other weekChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
Revenge of the TG582n
New ISP has sent me another one!!!!!
I was upgrading to fibre I thought they'll send me a decent bit of kit than this.0
