MSE News: London buses to stop taking cash this summer

The number of people on this thread who want to make up unlikely scenarios to show why this is a bad idea is remarkable. Are the streets going to be full of muggers who take only Oyster Cards and leave people with cash? Given the fare differential on buses and tubes not to have an Oyster Card if you live in London or visit it regularly is hardly MSE. I don't live in London but visit several times a year and catch a few tubes and buses. It's a complete no brainer to have a card. I expect in a few years time that will become a contactless card instead. From the point of view of TfL the business of dealing with cash and the associated cost is removed and from the point of view of the driver and passengers the whole process is speeded up and delays cut.
I think some on this thread regret that the buses are no longer drawn by horses.0
