Hello ,
Any one living in Milton Keynes or surrounding areas , is it a good idea to buy in this area. I am FTB with a small kid so good school, secure quiet area (due to family) and faster commute to central london is priority(upto1 hour is ok from Milton its like 41mins which is great).
I would like to know first hand experience from anyone living in this area? The only thing that is little off putting is high cost or rail travel, pretty much £480 pounds per month which will increase every year. But again if you gain something (like good house price) you lose something as well( more train fair this formula works very well here in UK).
Please reply me or PM me which ever is easier for you. I will be very thankful for any input on this.

Like anywhere Milton Keynes has it's good and bad areas. Areas close to the station are mainly flats and Milton Keynes' car focused layout is not for everyone.
Other areas to consider are other stops on the same line. e.g. we live in Leighton Buzzard, it has a nice small town feel and only 15 mins from MK shopping. The fast train gets to Euston in 35 mins and it is cheaper than from MK. I take the train most days and never really have any problems.0 -
MK has been a property hot-spot outside of M25 for a while now, so don't expect bargain bucket prices, due to the amount of work locally and the option for London after the West Coast line improvement.
However there is a lot of housing stock of all different sizes in the estates, plus you have the more 'village' feel of Stony Stratford. I only really know Two Mile Ash which I would say is OK but there's a lot of rentals and high-density housing.
The Virgin service out of Euston is always rammed, so don't expect pleasant trips on the train.0 -
Plenty of FTBs buy in MK so that is not really an issue. However, if you have to commute to London daily, MK is not really that useful.
Also, MK has American township layout. So life without a car is very difficult (if that matters to you).
You could try Leighton Buzzard, Flitwick, Harlington, Bedford, Luton etc. which are nearer to London.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0
