Motor insurance NCD bonus

I've just swapped over car insurance from LV to Admiral and although it was a pretty straightforward process one thing has left me with a slightly bitter taste.
I've been driving 21 years and have accumulated that much in no-claims bonus.
When inputting the info into a well known comparison website I put 20+ years as the option for NCD. It gave me various quotes, the one from Admiral which I decided to go with was £100 cheaper than the renewal quote from LV so I called them to take up the offer.
When we were running through the details we came to the NCD discount section and the chap from Admiral asked me to confirm the NCD and to check it on the renewal quote I'd been given from LV to make sure that's what it said. It was then that I noticed the renewal quote from LV said "9 years (the maximum)" so he had to drop the NCD bonus from 20+ to 9 years. Not his fault, he can only go on what the renewal quote said and I understand that.
This was still cheaper than LV but only by about £20. I decided to carry on with swapping over the insurance as it was still a saving, but not anywhere near the saving I was expecting.
So. Having sent LV the proof of NCD when I signed up with them a few years ago it's obvious that it's irrelevant how long you've got for your NCD bonus as they'll only allow 9 years as the maximum they'll award, which makes a difference to future quotes as the 11 years I've had lopped off has cost me an extra £80 more than I was originally quoted effectively.
Are there any insurers who have longer NCD bonus allowances so that I don't get 11 years knocked off my NCD in future? Annoyingly I have to start at 9 years again now so will have to rebuild it.

Have you tried asking LV if they'll send out a letter showing proof of more than the 9 years? Some insurers will do this (especially if you threaten a complaint).0

Nobody seems to care over 9 years. Most only quote from 5 to 7 anyway.
If you have an accident generally only 5 years count. So if you lose 2 you dont drop to 7 you drop to 3.
