Possible redundancy

Hi All,
Hoping someone can help me with this!! Been into work this morning where I've been employed for 10 years, we've all been given a letter of possible redundancies, I have a few questions regarding this as I'm starting to panic slightly!!
1. I've never been issued with a contract, but have worked 40+ hours a week, the letter states that everyone's hours are being reduced to zero and will be dished out weekly, can they do this?
2. The company has never gone into liquidation but have changed hands (within the same family) several times, am I still classed as being employed by the same company?
3. This next one is a strange one........as I've said I've been employed for 10 years, but I've only just been issued with wage slips and paid directly into a bank account, for 9 years I've been paid cash with no wage slip.....if things went wrong how could I even prove I've been employed by them?
Please help!! 😃

So you have been pocketing wages for the past 9years without paying any tax??!!!
They are within their rights to do what they have as you have no contract as far as they are concerned they call you as and when they require.
I would start looking for a job as although it has been good in the past I wouldnt rely on them for future reference.
I started a new job and although it was internal transfer there was a delay in my contract being issued I had H.R email it to me the same day as they said it could take upto a month and I REFUSED to work without knowing EXACTLY what I was signing up for.0 -
Ok, a couple of points. Firstly contact the tax office and ask them for a print out of your contributions, you should have been receiving a P60 coding notification that confirms your tax code for the following year. The tax man will be able to confirm if you have been paying the right tax / national insurance.
Just because you do not have a contract does not mean you do not have a contract. It means that you are working under the standard terms and conditions as apply to all other employees. A contract of employment should be issued within 12 weeks but without one you just take standard terms and conditions - do you have a company handbook, does that say anything about hours etc?
Yes you have continuous service.
How do you prove your service? Would you have any letters from them such as pay rises / notification of change of ownership, disciplinaries etc?:jI am an Employment Law Paralegal and an experienced Human Resources Manager and offer my guidance as simply that ... guidance :j0
