Only shopping online...

Hi,

Just wondered if anyone had ever only bought food online for a month?

I'm considering setting myself this challenge with maybe a £10 montly buffer to cut out all the £5 here and there I spend which all seem to add up over the month. Thought might also make me more organised!!

It's a great idea! I only buy food online now and it really helps.

I fell off the wagon a few weeks ago, went into Waitrose for 2 things and ended up spending 30 quid. I used to do that all the time! So I am trying to stick to online only from now on.
  • I'm glad someone else is doing this... Wasn't sure if it was a bit of a mental idea. I realise I may not always get the cheapest price for products but I think it will cut out so much unnecssary spend. I'm going to have a £10 buffer as I am pretty bad forgetting my lunch. Just the same as you with waitrose, bob in for a few bits come out with £15 worth of freezer food (freezer already rammed) and a few treats!!

  • Hi,

I signed up to Asda's unlimited 3 month delivery service on Saturday. I am going to plan meals each week and have my delivery each Friday eveining. I do buy my meat from the local village butcher and will budget £20 per week for meat.

I am hoping this will not only help me budget and save but will help with my weight loss journey.

    Good Luck

  • I had planned on buying the new Asda pass as had one in October & it worked great but i noticed that they have put up the minimum order value from £25 to £40 and some we don't spend £40 on food :(

  • I don't grocery shop online per se, but I do take advantage of ASDAs click and collect. I order my shop, and pick it up packed and ready. The upsides are not actually having to go inside the shop, and obviously its all ready to go when you pick it up. This helps me in two major ways, firstly there is no impulse buying since Im not walking down the aisles being confronted with extra products and two, my lists don't change that much week to week so now it only takes me about 20 - 30 mins (it usually takes me about 45 mins for a normal shop).

  • We have been doing this for a few months now and have definitely noticed a difference.

We do a £100ish shop at the end of each month, fill the freezer and cupboard, use vouchers, MySupermarket, cashback etc to get the total as low as possible, and then spend around £5ish a week getting milk and the odd couple of perishables as and when. It's just me, my husband and our toddler. Have saved a lot of money doing this as opposed to doing weekly shops and random "pop outs and grabs"!

If you have a freezer, don't forget you can freeze milk, stops you having to go out for unnecessary spends. That way you can perhaps manage without the online shop and just do one big shop from one of the cheaper stores such as Aldi.
  • I have just started doing this and combined with meal plans it's really saving me money! If you haven't done online shopping before there's some good offers for first time customers!
