Uk cps parking ticket - is this reason to appeal?

Hi. I live in an apartment and we have designated parking bays (1 per flat) plus visitor bays. Last night I got home and someone was in my spot. Visitors parking is right at the other end so I parked by the kerb near the door. Now there is a clear sign which I have never read in full before (thought this was just to stop non residents) which does say you can be ticketed if you park outside a bay. This sign is not lit up at night. This is the bit that confused me - where I parked, there is a double yellow line so far along, then a section with no lines. As it is part double yellow, I thought I was safe to park on the section with no lines
Is this cause to appeal or do I follow advice seen on here and other sites to ignore the ticket as it's contract law not criminal? I also read they can only claim for any loss they suffered as a result of my 'offence' ( ie parking outside my blummin house)
Any advice appreciated

    read this https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4816822

also decide based on if its in england and wales , or scotland or N.I. , as rules differ
  • Hi Redx
I've had a look at the link before posting but tbh am finding it quite complex and lots of conflicting info in various sites. I can't find anything about double yellows so am stuck!
    Thanks

as its a private parking company I believe you parked on private land, so the yellow lines are not relevant

what is relevant is the PPC authority to issue tickets on behalf of the landowner and any other relevance like signage etc

yes it is complex, if it were simple nobody would post

if this is a windscreen ticket, wait for the NTK to arrive and see what contravention it mentions, and any appeal option like popla or the ipc

Groundhog Day for us again, you are another newbie who is so far 'missing the point':

It matters not what the allegation on the fake PCN is. All cases are the same & the advice is not conflicting.

'IGNORE' advice is OLD, you've wasted your time reading old stuff, hence why you need to read the NEWBIEs FAQs sticky thread (about appealing but NOT YET).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD
  • Thank you for your advice redux, I shall await contact. I've also contacted the management company to find out who has authorised the sign going up and ticketing on this car park

Coupon-mad - apologies if I have offended you by asking a question. I appreciate there will always be duplication on forums which obviously annoys you however having read the stickys i am still confused hence the question. There are a number of sites on the internet with conflicting advice and not all of us can be as superior and clever as you. So please do feel free to not read my posts which was obviously about whether to appeal - a subject you seem 'sensitive' about

Ask away; what people say on here is only opinion...:)
  • Thank you prowla. Is newbie bashing the common theme on here?! Just noticed I have a newbie alert which does say 'be nice' !! I understand now I should wait until I get a notice however what reason do I then give for appeal?! Confusion over the double yellow? Unlit sign (can I get away with this when I live here?!). I'm worried about them logging something against me that might impact my credit file. I'll hang fire thought and sorry for the ramblings
  • Dont worry about anything being logged

Just wait until you get a letter in the post then come back here
