Is there a demand for these 'Handyman' services?

I would agree that it is not just pensioners who would use a handyman service. If I could find a good one (and I am nowhere near a pensioner) I would use regularly to do all those jobs in my house that i want to get round to but don't.
As others have said, I would want a person with physical address details, not just a mobile number.
You can also set up a business page on the likes of facebook etc and I am sure if you are good enough and let people know about it, eventually you will get good feedback/reviews etc which will only help the business.0 -
There is definitely a demand for it, for example, I am right now! Bought two Ikea Pax Wardrobes, and since it is too heavy, there is no way that I can assemble it on my own. Need a reasonable priced Handyman to help with the assembles.0

There'll always be people like my mum who don't do any DIY, and want people to do odd jobs. Just putting some shelves up, stuff like that. Jobs that builders and 'bigger' trades don't want.
Agree with the comment that you should price for the job though. I'd also never pay someone hourly, as (1) there's an incentive for them to work slowly and (2) I don't know how much the job is going to cost me.
Definitely, definitely get public liability insurance.0
