What, you mean compared to the days when high-powered computers were fifty quid?
A BBC Model B, not including a screen, was £399 in 1979. It does seem somewhat whiney to complain that, after 35 years of inflation, it costs about the same in nominal terms to buy a computer that is roughly a million times more powerful.0 -

Take a look at the manufacturer refurbished ones. They come with a full warranty but cost less than new. I bought this machine I'm on now over 4 years ago as a refurb - still going strong!

Nothing exciting about that 'deal'.0
