My dads Dell screen is just out of warranty by something like 3 weeks and due to Dells chat system being screwed up he only contacted them today and they are not going to sort the fault even when he told them about the Sales of Goods Act, my dad did pay extra for the screen. They are going to call me tomorrow, what should I say to Dell legal team other then the sales of goods act and that it is not suitable to fail after 12 months.

Sale of goods act is all you need - it covers goods for up to 6 years. However things like lightbulbs etc that would be expected to fail after say a few months won't be covered that long but it is unreasonable to expect a LCD screen to last just over a year.
I'd basically tell them that unless they sort it all (without cost to you) you will begin small claims action to recover you costs in repairing or replacing (less usage) the item.0
