Can anyone help?

Hi - Can anyone help with information on why I have not been able to take up the free listings since 5 January? My account is in good condition. I listed on 74 items on 29 December and then listed another 26 on 5 January taking me to the 100 allowed in a month. I've lost a lot of weight and am having a massive clearout as I can't put the weight back on for health reasons so it's one way of helping me to keep it down if my clothes don't fit and I don't want to buy bigger again lol.

I would have thought that the first 74 items would be off the 100 list by 29 January but it's still not allowing me free insertion for the last 10 day offer or for this weekend offer. Do you think that I have to wait until the next 26 items clear on 5 February before being allowed to list again?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer. :)

Are you sure you account is in "good condition"?
Have you checked your Sellers Dashboard to see what it says there?

Got to:- My Ebay then Account then Seller Dashboard.

Your Performance Level Should show as Standard and Account Status as Current.

If not then you need to run a report to see where you have been given low stars by buyers.

Another way to check to see if you qualify on a Free Listing Event is to go to:-

My Ebay then Sell, All Selling and scroll down to the bottom of the page to the Promotional Offers section.

Are you talking about the free 99p listings? If so the clock should reset on the 1st every month.

However, as above, perhaps you need to check your expanded seller dashboard as there may be issues

Hi - Thanks to you both for your replies. I had checked my account out this afternoon and it is set as Standard and Current and always has been thankfully. I checked the Announcements at the bottom of the page and there is no free listing message. I checked my dashboard and I have 4.85 for postage & packaging charges and 0.37% with a (1) next to it. I charge the Post Office price of £2.60 plus 20p for the postage bag and I explain this on each listing so that I'm upfront and honest about it so I wouldn't have thought I'd get marked down for that. An occasional parcel is £5.20 plus 20p but most go for the small parcel rate.

I only have 4.90 for despatch time which is strange as the buyer pays one day and always, without fail, the parcels get posted the following day as hubby walks into town to get exercise every day except a Sunday so always posts my parcels for me. Some people don't pay until the following morning and he waits until I wrap those parcels and they are posted the same day as payment. You can't get much faster than that lol.

The 99p is 0/100 and Active.

Do you think EBay are not allowing me to have free listings because of the (1) at postage prices on my dashboard? I have done the test various days since they announced the 10-day free listings and also this weekend both days and each time I can list if I pay. I haven't been able to list free since 5 January and it's the first time that's ever happened. Sometimes I get an email from EBay but not this time and the other times I don't receive one, I see it on this thread, do a test and it's always been free until now.

I've just gone to the link you sent, Soolin. Very shocked at the way buyers treat the star system and mainly because they don't understand it. I think EBay should make it much clearer for buyers to decide what to leave in the star system. Going by some of the comments it's just clearly people not understanding what an impact it can have on sellers accounts if they decide to leave 3s even if they are happy with everything. Human nature possibly for certain people never to leave 5s with the thinking that 'there is always room for improvement'. Can't think that way with EBay's star system though.

Many thanks for your help. :)

ailey- sorry I think I might have mis understood. Did you mean that you haven't been invited to the FLW , the ones at 'any price over £1' and not the free 99p ones?

If so then as they were invite only ebay ar eobviously using some peculiar metrics to decide who to invite , it seems completely random.

I list virtually nothing on my private account yet I have been able to list for free on each and every invite only day- whether or not I actually get invited.

Thanks soolin. Yes, no invite like many others I suppose. Various other times over the years I've not had an invite but still been able to list free. That's the last 2 I've not been able to free list. I thought if they missed people out one time that they would get an invite the second time. Seems a strange way to do it as more FVF for EBay the more people they have selling. They have so many big companies listing now that the small private sellers don't seem to matter nowadays which is a pity as many of us prefer the small private sellers and the small businesses as that's what made EBay different in the beginning. Oh well, nothing ever stays the same.

It worries me a bit when I read on the link you gave me about people having problems with their stars due to not listing often enough. I didn't know that came into it. Oh my goodness, EBay is changing so much now.

Yes I wonder how they decide who to invite and who not to.

Thanks again for your reply. :)

Thanks RFW. I've not contacted them but maybe I should. I might just be unlucky in not getting the last 2 invites as my account seems to be fine.

Thanks again for your reply :)
