Can I claim?

Probably know I can't but appreciate any help!
I have or rather had a ruby & diamond eternity ring. I have had it almost 20 years & has a lot of sentimental value to me.there is a long story but basically can I claim for its Loss?
I am insured but I can't find my valuation of all my jewellery either. I had that done years ago too & the jeweller who did that is no longer trading! Annoying thing is I went into H Samuel last year about getting my jewellery re valued & the wanted so much money to do so so I left it as I already had an old list! Just didn't think I would ever lose something so dear to me. I doubt the insurers would look into something is suppose has no evidence of being, but as I am so upset I wondered if anyone had any helpful advice.

What does your insurer say you need in your policy documents? Mine requires a valuation dated within 3 years. If you have photos of you wearing the ring they may pay out something, but it depends on their terms.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
A valuation isnt necessary at all unless your insurance explicitly requires it (which normal home insurance doesnt)
Where the valuation would be handy is describing exactly what the ring is in terms of number of stones, average weight etc.0 -
Thanks for the replies. I will call my insurance tomorrow. I suppose I can lose anymore by calling them. Hopefully they will have a sympathetic ear!0

You may want to report to the police first (if you haven't already) as it will be one of the first questions they ask.0
