Positive Input Ventilation unit

Hi, I have a condensation/black mould issue in a few rooms of my house and have been advised to get an Envirovent system that sits in my loft.

I am struggling to find any reviews from anyone who actually has one of these units?

does anyone here have one? are they any good? what did you pay for the unit and installation?

Thanks for any advice.

  • We have a Vortice unit , Italian manufacture supposed to ventilate the house with heat recovery. Came with a new build property but I think the unit cost is about £1200. Cannot recommend it , supposed to do all sorts of humidity and volume control but has never worked properly and there is no back up or help from the import agents.. Avoid this one like the plague.

We had a Vent-Axia whole house ventilation system fitted in December and all mould and condensation problems have disappeared.

Plumb - I was going to post a similar sort of question. I went to a home show at Alexandra Palace yesterday and nuaire were demonstrating. I would welcome your thought on the unit after you've used it for a few weeks in terms of noise, power usage, effectiveness etc.

Do you mind me asking how much you paid and how your system will be setup ie how many input and outputs?

A general question for anyone - is this the same as an HVAC system that you see in some high end houses?

  • Hi ey,
any manufacturers PIV unit is not a HVAC system
Equally any manufacturers PIV (positive input ventilation) fitted correctly will improve / control a condensation system (note the highlight!)
I fit nuaire products and have done so for many years, I have tried others but don't like them and prefer to stick with what I know.

Expect to pay between £500 - £700 for a unit installed, this of course depends on where you are in the country and the model.
Remembering that the cheapest standard Drimaster will control a condensation problem in a property just as well as the most expensive one

    hope this helps :)
The advice I give on here is based on my many years in the preservation industry. I choose to remain anonymous, I have no desire to get work from anyone. No one can give 100% accurate advice on a forum if I get it wrong you'll get a sincere apology and that's all:D

We had an enviro vent system in a flat (top floor so hard a loft).

i found it pointless, when it was summer it pumped in super hot air from above the loft insulation int to the flat.

In the winter .. it pumped in super col air from above the loft insulation.

Apparently the theory was that air from the loft is warmer than air from outside (cant disagree with that) but having a heating system on fighting a ventalation system it just became a very expensive way of not having a very warm space in the winter and a very cheap way of not being able to bear the heat / sleep in the summer.
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

    Thanks for all the responses.

a question.. is there a way to find people who will fit these things 'correctly'? I have been quoted £1300+ for an Envirovent Mr Venty loft system and as much as I want to try to control the condensation issue I just dont have that amount of money..
