This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning :hello:
E and R went to hospital at about 5am, hopefully the baby will actually be born today
My cold seems to be clearing up, yesterday afternoon and evening was awful but I feel better this morning. Very short of breath and a bit of a cough though. I've slept downstairs for the last two nights, upstairs is so stuffy even with the window open and when I lie down I can't breathe. Looking forward to my bed tonight
There are surfers camped out by the river, ready for the bore which is going to be a biggie. Our friends (well not strictly our friends, my kids are friends with their kids) have a house next to the river, they own a permanently moored houseboat which they rent out for holidays. When a big bore is expected, they tie the boat to a JCB and dig the digger bit into the ground to anchor it! Lol.
I want to start selling baby blankets so I'll do a bit of research today, find the cheapest price for my favourite yarn and work out some sizes and prices. I've been going through my card supplies too. I need to get myself sorted and up and running properly. I've been doing bits and pieces and manage to make a small profit each year, but I really should be doing better. Something clicked in my head a few weeks ago and I can see what's been getting in my way, not my fault BUT I'm the one who's allowed it to distract me. No more. I've deliberately kept away from people so I can think about things and make plans. It's taken about a month and I do feel bad for shutting myself away from everyone but it's worked. Onwards and upwards for me
I've just spilt coffee all over my blanket and pyjamas. So first job of the day will involve the washing machine

Good Morning TTFTM Tru and all to follow.
A bit of sunshine and no rain here at the moment :j
Todays plans are about to jump in the shower then I will be clearing the ironing basket, will spend about an hour in my office then hopefully clean my kitchen blinds and windows - not my favourite job. I really need to descale my coffee maker too, we live in such a hard water area.
OH & DS' will probably pretty much watch football all day - suits me - keeps them out of my way :rotfl:
Roast pork with roast pots, stuffing and veg for dinner. Have also started compiling a shopping list for an online shop.
Have a great day all.x0 -
Morning all! Only post occasionally now as life is hectic! questions. For you lovelies..... Remoska - good buy or not? We frequently use the oven, but it's not full. Slow cooker which I only use occasionally is on its way out - switch has broken and it will only cook on high now!! Bread machine needs replacing as it keeps kneading so we only get the top of the bread, the rest is kneaded Into breadcrumbs. argh!! Am looking on eBay. But thought you might have ideas.
Ironing to be done today and will cook the two chickens I got yesterday so we will have roast chicken, chicken casserole, soup etc!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Good morning everyone
DGD is still fast asleep and DH is reading. I have the washing machine on and seeing as the sun is shining, I may even get some dried outside.
Cooked breakfast is planned for this morning, then a walk in the park or by the sea later. DGD is still in pain with her ear but if she gets wrapped up warm with a hat on and her hood up, the fresh air will do her good.
Want to do a bit of ebay listing later, have only just realised it's a free listing weekend because I never seem to get the emails.
Fish and chorizo with orzo pasta for dinner and want to prepare tomorrow's dinner too, so need to look for something that can go in the slow cooker.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone that needs or just wants them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Good Morning everyone ,a bit on the chilly side but the sun is shining which is very nice and at the moment its not raining ,which is even better.I managed to get my washing blown dry on the line yesterday so this morning its going the be listening to The Archers while ironing ,then I promised I would make my youngest DD an apple pie so I got a box of frozen apple from the freezer last night and I only have to knock up the pastry this morning .
Off to Dd late afternoon for dinner which i think is Lamb,so thats Sunday mapped out
Tomorrow morning I have knitting club, and have to return some library books. No shopping to get this week as my eldest DD arrived for a nice afternoon visit yesterday and treated me to some odds and ends when we went over the road to the shopping precinct.I only had a few bits on my list that was needed and she said a few groceries will last you longer than a bunch of flowers:):) True bless her she is a good little lass.
Right I'm off to sort the ironing out and get my trusty radio on
Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing
Cheers JackieO xxx0 -
Good morning everybody,
Looks to be quite a nice day here but then again it started like this yesterday then ended up pouring down (again:()
Busy yesterday with DGC till after lunch, then took Lyla for a walk and then Dh didnt approve of the cooked meat I got him on Thursday so back to Aldos.I made a beef curry yesterday afternoon when we got back,it was a ys pack from MrS,organic, but it was a bit tough despite cooking it low and slow.I got the kindle version of the indian takeaway secret after spotting a link on here somewhere but I was a bit disappointed ,not many main meal recipes in it .I think the older book the curry secret by a different author is better.
DH has had to go to work as someones roof is leaking and the lights went out.Its an old customer so he felt obliged but they live on the coast now and thats an hours drive.Rang at teatime yesterday, not sure what he wanted him to do in the pitch dark with all his tools on another job an hour away.Anyway I would think that's Sunday taken care of  He really needs a chill out day at the weekend with the extra 2 hours a day travel they're doing at the mo, (and he is 61 next month doing a hard physical job)
esmf- I really love my Grand Remoskie and use it most days, but they have shot up in price since I got mine, though there is an updated model which recently came out  I cooked a loaf in it yesterday which was fine, instead of in the bm which isnt performing brilliantly at the mo either, think it might just be too cold in our kitchen.I'll be doing the chicken in it later on,which is always lovely.
Right, better get the pup out for her walk, hope you all have good days x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Morning All,
Spent yesterday tidying drawers that didn't need to be tidied, and moving things around in the kitchen. Just stuff to keep me busy.:(
MIL is still with us but unconcious now. OH phoned this morning saying how awful it is. Anyone who opposes euthenasia hasn't had to sit through someone they love dying. She wants to go, she said so before she slipped into the coma, she is 93 and has had enough now. OH and DSS are with her, but feel so helpless. Just a case of waiting now.:A
Got to find something else to occupy me today, think I'll do some baking.
Have a good day .I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Good morning everyone,
Not posted for a little while, but have been reading. I've had a down couple of days. No real reason, I just go through phases, and as there is no real cause I just sort of have to wait it out. Seem to be coming through it now, and the new month and better weather (well, here anyway!) should help.
Tru - hope the little one makes an appearance soon!
hilstep - I hope things are peaceful for your MIL, the waiting must be so hard
snoozer - I was so sorry to hear your sad news, thinking of you
Today I need to:
-do some baking - double batches to take some into work for a cake session
-make some sort of bread, haven't quite decided what yet
-clean the floors - hoover throughout and mop kitchen + bathroom
-complete assembly of DVD rack and organise DVDs
-put away washing and put another load on when OH comes back from his sports match
-maybe one other job - either clean a shelf in the fridge or start sorting one box from the spare room, will see how I feel
Have a lovely Sunday all, whatever you are doing, or not doing, lazy ones are very good too!

hilstep - I am totally with you on the euthanasia argument. I have never understood how we can live in a society where it is acceptable to put animals out of their pain but not allow humans the choice to die.

.
Hilstep, I could not agree with you more, we had to endure two weeks of watching my dad slowly slip away, it was heartbreaking, I hope your MIL's passing is peaceful and quick. Hugs to you.
Morning all,
Beautiful bright day here got the wm on the go with the first of three loads, will hand them all on the line.
Going to do very little today having worked 6 out of the last 7 days and the same next week I need a rest day.
OH is at the boot sale and dd and her boyf are just making breakfast, they went out clubbing and got in at 3.30 .
Might do an easy jacket spud for dinner with cheese ham etc, and if I feel like it I might do an hours painting.
Have nice sundays all xx0
