Telephone or Letter?

Hi
Were just about to make a claim for mis sold PPI.
The company was Alliance and Leicester now Santander.
As we are claiming directly and not using a claim company I wanted to find out a couple of things first.

1, Should we call and make initial contact as their website suggests or should we just fill in the consumer questionnaire form and post it recorded.

2, We have the paperwork for the first loan June 1998 and then paper work of a replacement loan of £5,500 in December 1998 but my husband thinks he took out another replacement loan a year later for £15,000 but he doesn't have a copy of that paperwork. If he writes or telephones with that information on the claim will they look into it or do we need to apply for a copy of the loan agreement first?

Thanks in advance for any help

    It makes no difference whatsoever.

You dont need the paperwork. You just need to give them enough information to help them identify the loans in question.

Do realise that 1998/9 is over fifteen years ago and the Bank may no longer have records going back so far. It's good that you have copies of some of the agreements, but do realise this is not proof that you actually paid the PPI to completion. It may well be that the bank will require some evidence of payments (statements etc) and if you have these then so much the better...
  • Oh dear that's true, oh we'll nothing to lose by trying. Thanks for the reality check though
