Car Insurance

Last year I was involved in a car accident, after my pay out which included the full insurance monies was made to me they stated that has I had taken out a monthly contact with them they would be holding the monies should I get another vehicle. Due to financial issues I will not be able to afford another car, can I request they give me back the monies.

It's my understanding they can charge the full years charge. So you pay for example an insurance company the sum of £600 to indemnify you for a 12 month period - you decide you can't afford this so pay monthly at £50 per month (plus interest). If you make a claim you have used the service paid for and not entitled to a refund for the service as well - if you are paying monthly you still owe a sum for the service you've still not paid for.

    That's my understanding of it

Same. As you made a claim the full premium is payable.
